Tazmanian Tiger
Information and pictures of the Tasmanian Tiger
The Tazmanian Tiger (correctly spelt Tasmanian Tiger) was officially declared extinct in 1936. It was only native to the small island of Tasmania and unfortunately due to colonization and hunting by the British settlers became extinct shortly after their arrival.
The last living Tasmanian Tiger died in Hobart Zoo (seen below). He was affectionately called "Benjamin", however sadly no offspring were able to be reared in captivity before the species died out.

Tasmanian Tiger
The Tasmanian Tiger has become a near mythical creature representing the true uniqueness of some species that live in Tasmania. Many still believe that there are wild Tasmanian tigers living in the remote forest of Tasmania, although nobody has been able to prove this.
