The city of Devonport Tasmania is the arrival point for the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry. The Spirit of Tasmania travels between Melbourne on the mainland of Australia to Tasmania daily.
Devonport is located at the mouth of the Mersey River and faces out across the Bass Strait, a body of water approximately 250 kilometres wide that separates Tasmania from the mainland of Australia. This means that it often bears the brunt of the wild weather that the Bass Strait is known for.

These include Cradle Mountain, the Walls of Jerusalem and the North West of Tasmania including Stanley and The Nut. Devonport also offers a number of things to do in the city itself including the Devonport Regional Arts Gallery and the Devonport Maritime Museum.
