Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is one of Tasmania's most famous destinations (and for good reason!). It boasts spectacular scenery in one of the best parts of untouched wilderness in Australia. Named after the iconic mountain in the middle of the National Park, this area has numerous pieces of wilderness to explore. There are a variety of ways in which to do this...

Walking or hiking is still by far the most popular, with plenty of well-maintained walking tracks throughout the national park this is a good option to see some of the beautiful scenery as well as getting some good exercise in the process. There are a range of tracks for different experience levels ranging from easy walks around the beautiful Dove Lake, to more challenging ones such as the climb up Cradle Mountain. There are also a range of tour companies that offer guided walks of the area, as well extended walks over a number of days including the "Overland Track". Below are a few of the companies that we would recommend.

Horse-riding is another way to see the wilderness the same way the early pioneers of Tasmania may have seen it. There are established stables located in Cradle Mountain with hardy, mountain horses that have been bred to survive in the tough landscape. Enjoy a horse ride (or alternatively a noisier quad-bike ride) and see the beautiful wilderness from a different perspective.

Scenic flights are also available in the Cradle Mountain area which give you an amazing birdseye view of this spectacular landscape. Cradle Mountain Helicopters is a company that operates a Bell Jetranger helicopter that can take you on a 30 minute flight to some of the most scenic parts of the Cradle Mountain National Park.
